Peer Review 2: MastroFUT & The Catch Up

Alex – MastroFUT

The update video is really well done, the screen transitions and exact song length didn’t go unnoticed.

Your switch up with video content makes sense – why spend so much time on editing, when other larger channels are better resourced, and carry the majority of viewership? Probably even more so around release, given FIFA’s iterative nature. Videos might be viable later on if you build up a transferrable audience, and game has been patched. But you’re working with a constantly evolving in-game market, advice in videos could get outdated quickly anyway.

I was skeptical about the name change, but it makes sense given the fact you’re fully commited to FIFA, you may as well get the additional niche appeal that comes with the naming convention.

The rapid increase in follower count from partnered accounts will probably taper off over time, given that they too have limited follower pools you can dip into. If you have the time, consider reaching out to even bigger creators. To avoid stepping on toes, maybe reach out to creators in different bubbles or regions. English speaking regions are obviously ideal, as this lets you continue to repost content you make for others to your already English speaking audience.

If the guide collaborations are working, double down. My only concern would be keeping in mind your value proposition to potential followers. If all your posts are collabs with another creator that they already follow, fans might not see any point in following you too. Mixing things up with some OC, or collaborations with multiple creators turns you into an aggregator, giving potential followers from individual creators a reason to follow you too.

Keep kicking goals!

Aysha – The Catch Up

Your update video makes all your iterations really clear via the slides.

I feel that improving the audio quality is an iteration you might have left out. This pitch and the second episode you have uploaded (Finable Offences) sound like a great improvement over your initial experimentation. The sound is much louder, crisp and there’s a lot less background noise.

Focusing on individual topics makes sense. As you mentioned, you can dive deeper into each one, but this also means that you won’t burn through ideas for content as quickly. Briefly covering current popular topics as a news style podcast could be interesting, but its not really what you’re going for, and that trend/news content also becomes dated quickly.

It’s interesting that you find yourself trending towards an interview format. At first you seemed to be going for an equal airtime split between the two of you, but this seems to tilt the dynamic a little – It might have an effect on the kind of audience you’re aiming at.

In regards to regular posting, if you aren’t already, it could be a real benefit to record a bunch at once and drip feed content over time, especially as workloads increase. Trying to hop on RSS feeds/Spotify/Apple would be useful if you find the time. If you do, consider looking at a thumbnail image from Fiverr, to help it stand out from the competition.

Keen for the next few episodes!
